Types of residence permit in Georgia

Types of Residence Permits:
   1.    Work Residence Permit – Issued to foreign nationals engaged in employment or entrepreneurial activities in Georgia.
   2.    Study Residence Permit – Granted to foreign students enrolled in accredited educational institutions in Georgia.
   3.    Family Reunification Residence Permit – Issued to foreign nationals whose family members are Georgian citizens or hold residence permits.
   4.    Former Citizen of Georgia Residence Permit – Granted to individuals who were previously citizens of Georgia.
   5.    Stateless Person Residence Permit – Issued to individuals officially recognized as stateless persons in Georgia.
   6.    Investment Residence Permit – Granted to foreign investors who have made significant investments in Georgia.
   7.    Short-Term Residence Permit – Issued to foreign nationals who own real estate in Georgia or have other legal grounds to reside in the country.
   8.    Status Holder Residence Permit – Issued to foreign nationals who have been granted international protection status in Georgia.
   9.    Special Residence Permit – Granted to foreign nationals who are presumed to be victims of human trafficking.
   10.    Permanent Residence Permit – Issued to the spouse, minor child, or parent of a minor Georgian citizen. It can also be granted to a foreign national who has legally resided in Georgia for the last 10 years based on a temporary residence permit (excluding periods spent in Georgia for education, medical treatment, or diplomatic service).
   11.    Temporary Residence Permit – Issued to foreign nationals who are victims of domestic violence, as recognized under Georgia’s Law on the Prevention of Violence Against Women and/or Domestic Violence, and Protection and Assistance to Victims of Violence.
   12.    Indefinite Residence Permit – Granted to foreign nationals and their family members who have obtained an Investment Residence Permit by investing at least $300,000 USD (or its equivalent in GEL) in Georgia. The permit is issued if the individual demonstrates a minimum annual turnover of $50,000 USD in the first year, $100,000 USD in the second year, and $120,000 USD in the third, fourth, and fifth years from business activities in Georgia. It can also be issued to those who own real estate valued at more than $300,000 USD (or its equivalent in GEL) and have maintained ownership for at least five years after obtaining the Investment Residence Permit.
